Active and Passive Voice (Including Video with Indonesian and English Explanation)

What's Active Voice?
When the subject of a sentence performs the verb’s action, we say that the sentence is in the active voice. Sentences in the active voice have a strong, direct, and clear tone.  It follows a clear subject + verb + object construct that's easy to read.
Examples:
She buys milk
I ran to the hill yesterday

What's Passive Voice?
A sentence is in the passive voice, on the other hand, when the subject is acted on by the verb. The passive voice is always constructed with a conjugated form of to be plus the verb’s past participle. Doing this usually generates a preposition as well. That sounds much more complicated than it is—passive voice is actually quite easy to detect.
Example:
Active Voice : She buys milk
Passive Voice : Milk is bought by her

Remember, not every active voice can be changed into passive voice.
Only Active voice with Transitive verb, not Intransitive verb.

Transitive Verb
Verb that needs object.
like: buy, eat, drink, make
Example:
_I_    _buy_    _meat_
  S         V           O

Intransitive Verb
Verb that doesn’t need object.
like: go, come, sleep, run
Example :
_I_    _go to_    _school_
  S          V             Adv

Adjectives and Adverbs Poster

What's Adjectives?

Adjectives are one of the four major word classes, along with nouns, verbs and adverbs. Examples of adjectives are: big, small, blue, old, rich and nice. They give us more information about people, animals or things represented by nouns and pronouns. Adjectives fall into two categories: descriptive and limiting.

Descriptive adjectives are those which describe the colour, size, or quality of a person or a thing while limiting adjectives place restrictions on the words they modify (quantity, distance, possession, etc.)

Examples of adjectives:
·       The dress is expensive
That bag is different from the rest of the bags
His phone is similar to mine
I am disappointed of you
That man is very cruel
I am hungry

What's Adverbs?
A word or phrase that modifies or qualifies an adjective, verb, or other adverb or a word group, expressing a relation of place, time, circumstance, manner, cause, degree, etc. (e.g., gently, quite, then, there ). Adverbs modify verbs, adjectives, or other adverbs. Many descriptive adjectives can be changed to adverbs by adding –ly to the adjective base.
